Grab Philippines Spotlights Pampanga as Emerging Digital Powerhouse in Luzon

Leading Superapp showcases community economic impact in the province.

Grab Philippines is positioning Pampanga as a digital powerhouse in Luzon—showcasing how the province’s embrace of the superapp economy has translated into real livelihoods, entrepreneurial growth, and inclusive progress beyond Metro Manila.

Grab’s footprint in Pampanga has steadily expanded since its foray in 2019, when it introduced GrabCar to local commuters. The rollout of GrabFood and GrabExpress followed in 2020, further embedding the platform into the daily routines of Kapampangans. By 2021, the launch of GrabMart deepened the province’s integration into the digital economy.

Over the past half-decade, Pampanga has become a strategic operational center for Grab in Luzon, now accounting for nearly half of the region’s over 20,000 driver- and delivery-partners. The province is also a vibrant base for numerous micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) leveraging Grab’s platform to expand market reach, grow operations, and boost earnings capacity.

Today, GrabFood, GrabMart, and GrabExpress operate across 14 cities and municipalities in Pampanga, while GrabCar services span the entire province — underscoring the superapp’s role in driving digital access and convenience across the province.

“It’s no longer just about food or rides,” said CJ Lacsican, Vice President for Cities at Grab Philippines. “Pampanga demonstrates what’s possible when digital infrastructure converges with community ambition. We’ve witnessed side-hustlers transition into full-time entrepreneurs, drivers acquire new homes, and local shops adopt AI-powered tools to grow more intelligently.”

To underscore its renewed focus on regional ecosystems, Grab recently launched “Super Takbo,” a participatory run at the Clark Parade Grounds. The event drew over 3,000 Grab driver- and delivery-partners, merchants, and users, commemorating a decade of grassroots progress and highlighting what the superapp terms “participatory progress.”

“Every transaction on our platform contributes to a local value chain,” Lacsican noted. “In Pampanga, that chain has visibly strengthened because the community has embraced digital solutions as a pathway to tangible, measurable growth.”

With upcoming “Super Takbo” events scheduled for Iloilo and Davao later this year, Grab is signaling that its commitment to inclusive digital development extends beyond Manila. For the superapp, the future of platform-enabled prosperity appears increasingly regional, with locations like Pampanga already demonstrating this unfolding reality.
