Festival of Flavors at Dos Mestizos Spanish Restaurant Angeles City

Dos Mestizos started in Boracay, Jose Carlos Remedios “Binggoy” together with Jose Ramon Nieto and other mestizos open a small restaurant in Station One and named after the two founders. The dishes being served in this restaurant is from the ancestors of Remedios such as Callos, Albondigas,  Bacalao, Salpicao De Vaca, Tortilla De Patata and the most famous Paellas.

Dos Mestizos Angeles City is the second branch, they are serving the same dishes as their chefs are trained in Boracay to serve the same quality and authenticity of every dish to its customers.

The dining area is Spanish inspired with a little modern touch in it, from the furniture, decorations and even to the music playing while dining.

You can also enjoy their sumptuous dishes  in a semi-private dining area which is good for 4 persons.

They have a wide selection of Spanish dishes in their menu.  I had the chance to taste 3 of their specialties.

One of their specialty and best-seller is the Salpicao De Vaca.  The beef is well marinated and will be cooked the way you want it to be or the doneness of it.  The meat is so tender with the right taste of the sauce with crunchy toasted garlic on top. I like the dish! Perfect “pulutan” or simply accompanied it with steam rice!

I also tasted the Gambas Al Ajillo, the shrimp is well -cooked with the right spices in it.  The dish is ok for me.

If you want something which is signature dish or product of Spain, try the Chorizo Hecho por Dos Mestizos.  It’s a very tasty sausage with different mix of spices. A little bit salty but I like this dish because it represents Spain for having a very flavorful taste.

These dishes are accompanied with their Houseblend Iced Tea with the taste of Basil, it’s kinda sweet and the flavor of basil is strong, I like it better if it has more iced or diluted it with water to neutralized the flavor and balance everything.

I tried their Signature Sangria Wine, not a very strong concoction but a refreshing one. It’s like a mocktail. I like it!

To end the course, I took a bit of Pastel Russo, their best seller dessert.  It’s like a sylvanas, a better version of it, it’s chewy and the crunchy texture of the almonds adds to the overall taste of this delectable sweet.

This restaurant also offers wines, beers, cocktails and other beverages. A perfect place to hangout or celebrate with friends and family. They also accept catering for a minimum of 30 persons.
